The designer has worked on an interesting update which is going live now. Here is the content.
Dear WAW Community
I’m the developer of Switzerland 1937 and I’m proud to announce that I was able to finish a rather big update for the Scenario.
It’s mainly focused on rebalancing. I played the scenario many times and wasn’t always satisfied.
My aim was to make the Scenario fun with both sides against the “pro” AI and to make it a fair scenario to play human-against-human.
Beside this, I’ve fixed various bugs that were present far to long…
Here the full changelog:
Bugfixes:
- The Foreign Powers now properly play their card instead hold them all on the hand
- The Strike Card can only be drawn a second time if the first strike was supressed (Swiss Rebels, was never intended to have two strike cards active at the same time)
- Freikorps reorganization now can’t be played before Turn 3 (Swiss Rebels, to prevent doing the AI stupid stuff)
- Corrected the card description of the German Intervention card – Escalation +2, not only +1 (Swiss Government)
- All cards which add income do add only half of the named value – this is necessary due a bug which doubles all single-time income increase.
- Added missing info text for the terrain types
Balancing:
- Foreign Support now adds 4D3 cash instead 1D8 (Swiss Rebels, to ensure they have enough units on early game)
- When playing the General Mobilization card, all Police units are removed from the game (Swiss Government, because else the rebels just could be overrun by numbers)
- Increased the turn number to 20 for late comebacks (since on Turn 16, many times the match was not yet decided)
- Added an additional Card to lower Tension level (for Swiss Government & Rebels, mostly the Foreign Powers won since the AI can’t manage Tension)
- Gas Attack now decreases the enemy CF by 2 instead of 1, but also increase tension by 1 (Swiss Rebels, makes them stronger in combat and adds more depth to the Tension management)
- Reduced the income loss of Strike to 2 instead of 3 (Swiss Rebels, Strike hit just too hard, especially when Embargo was active too)
- Reduced the income loss of the 2nd Strike to 1 instead of 3 (Swiss Rebels, Strike hit just too hard, especially when Embargo was active)
- The Rebels now have the first turn (otherwise, the AZT Reinforcements were mostly defeated by turn 1 during Governmental units in the specific provinces)
- The Government starts now with additional 6 money (to counter the fast Rebel/AZT advance in turn 1)
- Print Money adds now +6 Money instead of 4 (Swiss Government, useful if they lose to many resource provinces)
- Armies no longer get a bonus for Tanks in High Mountains (make the alp an legit area to protect your infantry from Tank attacks)
Other
- Reduit National Cards can now played before mobilization (Swiss Government, why not?)
- Police related cards can no longer drawn after general mobilization since they are no longer of use (Swiss Government, they became useless now since Police is no longer available after Mobilization)
- The Workers Unite! Card can no longer drawn before the Unholy Alliance (Swiss Government, because there are enough other cards and you couldn’t play this anyways)
- Added 4 new cards (Foreign Powers, to keep them active during the new Turn 17-20)
- The Rebels should focus more on Geneva when played by the AI, since its supply-centre is most important (Rebel AI could be easily cut from supplies before)
Thank you all for keeping interested in Switzerland 1937 and WAW!
